How to Prepare for Your Portrait Purchasing Appointment

(And Why Wall Art Matters More Than You Think)

Professional portrait photography isn’t just about taking beautiful photos. The real magic happens when those images are turned into artwork that fits your home in the right size, the right place, and the right style.

At Paul Elby Photography, we specialise in helping people choose wall art that feels natural in their space. This is why the purchasing appointment is one of the most important parts of the portrait experience. It ensures your images don’t just look good on a screen, but truly belong in your home.

Why wall art Is so important

The size of an image changes how it feels. Artwork that’s too small can get lost, while the right size creates balance, warmth, and presence. When wall art is chosen properly, it becomes part of your home something you notice and enjoy every day.

That’s why we guide every client through artwork selection, rather than leaving them to guess.

How to prepare for your Purchasing Appointment

1. Review the price guide

Before your appointment, take a few minutes to look through the available artwork options and collections. This helps you start thinking about what might suit your home and the spaces you’d love to fill with meaningful art.

2. Take photos of your walls (see image below)

Using your phone, snap a quick photo of any walls where you might display your artwork: living rooms, hallways, bedrooms, or staircases. These photos don’t need to be perfect. They simply help with scale.

3. Send your wall photos

Email your room photos to info@paulelby.com.au. We use professional visualisation software to show your portraits scaled accurately on your own walls, making it easier to choose the right size with confidence.

4. Enjoy the experience

During your appointment, you’ll see your portraits for the first time and be guided through choosing the artwork that suits your home best. The goal is a simple, enjoyable experience and artwork you’ll love living with for years.

The goal: Artwork that belongs in your home

Great portrait photography doesn’t end with the session. It ends with artwork that fits your space, reflects what you love, and becomes part of your everyday life.

With the right guidance, choosing wall art becomes easy and the result is something far more meaningful than a collection of images.
